October 31, 2007

Have you lately seen a jean that has an apple-shaped back pocket, and fits perfectly on a plus sized woman? Well don’t wonder anymore, because those jeans that has an apple-shaped pockets are called the apple bottoms. Yes, the apple bottoms jeans have helped many women around the world that has a hard time finding the right size that will fit them, but have you thought of who have started the apple bottoms? Well that’s none other Cornelius Haynes Jr. Know who he is? Well that’s the real name of a famous rapper slash entrepreneur Nelly.

The word apple bottoms came from the word that describes a woman with a large B-hind. Nelly created the apple bottoms because, like Vokal (he’s other clothing line), he believed that the clothes should fit a woman, not the woman fit the clothes. Unlike other brands of clothing line that discriminates plus sized women, apple bottoms assures that all women, even plus sized, can feel more feminine because of apple bottoms jeans are flattering to women with curvy figures and are offered in a myriad of washes and rises.

Among his many entrepreneurial endeavors (Nelly co-owns the Charlotte Bobcats and his own entertainment and recording label Derrty Entertainment), apple bottoms has helped proliferate Nelly’s hip hop empire. He uses his success as a business man to fund a non-profit organization called 4Sho4Kids and the Jes Us 4 Jackie Campaign, established to help his little sister’s fight against lukemia and increase membership to the Bone Marrow Donor Registry.

The House of Agnèz Deréon

October 31, 2007

Have you ever wondered why the house of dereon made their clothing line small? Well the house of dereon clothing line was made specifically for women that have splendid curves to show on public. If you’re asking who started the house of dereon clothing line, then that’s none other than the American R&B singer, songwriter, record producer, music video director, actress, dancer, and fashion designer Beyoncé Knowles (actually she isn’t the only person who started it), and if you’re wondering where the dereon in house of dereon came, well that’s easy.

Well firstly, let’s go back to the year when fashion clothing is about to take over our culture, and also on that same year came a girl named Agnes dereon (well actually its Agnès DeRouen but it was later changed to agnes dereon) July 1, 1909 in Delcambre, New Iberia, Louisiana. Well this Agnes dereon is no ordinary girl, self-taught she became a well known seamstress catering to private clients in Louisiana.

Agnes dereon excels in tailoring pieces that stood out by decorating the fabrics Agnes dereon used with such embellishments as embroidery, aplliques and smocking. Incorporating materials such as lace, beads and jeweled buttons, were just some of the ingredients that dereon used to make her style unique.

Now you’re probably thinking who Agnes dereon is, and how is she related with Beyoncé Knowles, well here comes the juicy part. Agnes dereon fell in love and married a guy named Lumas Beyincé of Abbéville, Louisiana then both of them relocated to Galveston, Texas where they raised their family.

The Beyincé family was poor, but yet upwardly mobile. The couple made many sacrifices to see that their children matriculated through private school and received a proper education. Among the couple’s children are daughter, Tina Knowles (mother of Beyoncé Knowles), and a son. Their grandchildren are Beyoncé Knowles and Solange Knowles, Angela Beyoncé.

Long story short, the term dereon came from Beyoncé Knowles’ grandmother Agnes dereon. So if you want more information on house of dereon clothing line, just visit www.streetzwear.com.
